Maurice Watts started Melville Marketing, in 1990, working with organisations who often did not have a full-time Marketing Manager or who needed research, consultancy and many other aspects of Marketing. Most of his time has been spent working with IT companies and SMEs.


In 2009 he wrote his first book "Haiku from a Celtic Heart" which is a collection of Haiku with illustrations - these may be found at HaikuOnline.com This lead to him forming The Visualisation Press for the book, audio and visualisation products.


He previously owned Wattron and Wattron Marketing who were the forerunners of Melville Marketing. He still has an interest in Ronin Services - a research organisation.


Maurice started his working life on an electronics bench building prototype communications systems, became a Sales Engineer with large corporates (Dexion, GEC-General Signal, Honeywell Control systems, ENM [Rank Industrial] and STC) for 10 years, and then ran an ITeC for 4 years training and helping young adults (16 – 19 years) get good jobs in the IT industry - He succeeded about 200 times!


Since 1983 he has helped people, and organisations, big and small, with their marketing - as an employee, contractor, director and consultant.

He won the First Prize in the London Tourist Board’s President’s Marketing Award in 1988, gained Diplomas in Marketing and Management, Certificates in Teaching Further & Higher Education and Adults and became FInstSMM, MCIM and MIDM, and also created and presented an original white paper on “The uses of Psychometric Principles in Marketing” to the WLH Branch of the CIM in 1994.


He graduated from Salford University with an honours degree in Electronics in 1973 specialising in Computing, Digital Circuits, Communications, Physical Electronics, Mathematics and German.


He has been a Board Director of Kalms Associates Ltd and Potentials Plus Ltd. and resigned, in good standing with both, some years ago.

He is presently a partner and Founder of Zen Cafes working with the other founders to create a network of business clusters founded on principles of Authentic Business, Sustainable Business, Fair trade, Ethical Trade, Cooperation and mutual support and concern for the environment

He is a committed Networker and does speaking engagements featuring presentations on Real Marketing, "All you need to know about Marketing in 6 lines", Profiling and customer acquisition and an interactive engagement called “Marketing with Maurice—A conversation” which allows the audience to explore and learn about any marketing issue that concern or interest them.

He supports various charities and is currently he marketing adviser and committee member for the One World Party charity initiative:-


The One World Party Charity Project organises events (often with Maurice as quizmaster!) on a one world theme, providing training and education to benefit women and children on 3 continents. At these events people can Network with other businesses in a multi-cultural party atmosphere and at the same time make a difference to the lives of people in need in Africa, Brazil & India .

His other interests include Marketing, T'ai Chi, Boats, Haiku, Ballooning, Border Collies, Scotland, Alternatives, Reiki, Badminton, Scuba Diving, Massage, Art, Music, IT, Networks, Motorcycles, France and Psychometrics.
